Getting Ready

Ginger is taking a hardy group of travelers to Mexico to experience the glories of Hanal Pixan in the Yucatan.  It's known as Dia de los Muertos in most of Mexico but we'll get to sample the special flavor of the Yucatan celebration!  We'll meet up with Ginger and some of our other travel buddies in Atlanta on Saturday, October 25th, and travel together, coming home on Monday, November 3rd.  Come along and visit some famous sites, like Ek Balam, Uxmal, and Chechen Itza, with lots of other surprises along the way!!  Vamos!!  (If you comment as Anonymous, I won't know who you are - which might be what you had in mind??)

Follow Up

November 4-6  Ginger has been on a rollercoaster, with decisions being made and changed, and a lot of hurry up and wait going on.  The original plan was for the surgery to be performed in Merida because all the stateside doctors agreed that she shouldn't travel until it was stabilized.  It would havd meant staying in Merida for a month before she could fly home.  It took almost three days for the local surgeon to decide it was going to be a much bigger deal than he had thought. After lots of discussions it was finally agreed that she should have the surgery in Atlanta because it is much to complicated to be done here.  The hospital in Atlanta, Grady, is a level one trauma center and much better equipped to deal with removing her knee replacement and installing a new and larger one as well as a prosthesis to stabilize her femur. Pomuch and Uxmal

 Thursday, October 30, 2025 Woohoo!  I'm all caught up!  Of course I haven't done yoga for days but, oh well, I'll think about that later! Breakfast is at seven with our bags packed and out in the hall so we can leave at eight for Uxmal. Breakfast is the buffet downstairs and since we've brought our bags with us, we're all set!   Fairwell! It's quite a ride to Uxmal but Juan fills the time with tons of information, like the word Uxmal's definition. It's actually a Maya word that means Three Times! The site was discovered because the Spanish heard the stories about an abandoned city that was built in just one night!  When they found the enormous pyramid they named it the Pyramid of the Magician!  We also learn other assorted factoids, like Merida has a population of 1,500,000!
